posed this question a couple days ago and got one response. l cant believe there are people out there who really think this. How can you make the case that driving a car in a constant left turn is the athletic equivalent of hitting a 90 mph fastball or climbing the fence to steal a home run?

is this a serious question? Nascar is not a sport! You do not need athletic ability to drive a car, just coordination and reflexes.

Watch a race at Talladega or Daytona. They run bumper to bumper for about 4 hours at speeds close to 200 mph with no power steering or traction control. Heat inside the car can exceed 130 degrees. Often times, the difference between a fast lap and a slow one can be measured in hundreths of a second. l am not saying it is more or less valid than baseball but it does require tremendous skill and has a huge following.

Any competition where the equipment is more important than the ability of the competitor should not be a sport. That includes NASCAR or any kind of vehicle racing, horse jumping (that counts the horse as equipment), and goodness knows what else.

Competitions? Absolutely, but a competition between pit crews and car manufacturer more so than anything.

So this is what it is like to be me. Nascar and MLB fan. For all of you who think Nascar is not a ''sport l like to see you try. You have to be physically tough unless you will pass out. Just think about Nascar, it is equally tough compared to all the sports. You know how hard is it to turn left at 180 mph?
