Yes they will, with their batters like a-rod,jeter,giambi,and others they will dominate on offense,as for defense also, pitching will improve with CC and burnett now in the starting rotation, this will help the yanks big time

Giambi was basically released, is a free agent.

ITs a good possiblity they will l mean l a mets fan and im even saying they might but l doubt it though because it will take C.C. sometime to adapt as well as aj burnett so its a good chance but my feelings are going to have to wait for a lil and see in the start

It is hard to say until they play the games. More than one free agent has had a hard time there. Randy Johnson, Carl Povano, Kevin Brown, Javier Vazquez, these r all guys that never did what they were supposed to, who came in with a big resume. And they've had a lot of injuries lately, which has been their biggest problem. Well, l hope they keep buying people & losing. It is been fun to watch the last few years. They've spent a billion dollars on player payroll since they've obtained ARod, & they have not even gone to a World Series, never mind won one. How do u spend $200 million a year & not make it for like 4 or 5 years in a row?

l do not think so but l also thought the Rays would be in last place last year. They have just as good of a chance as anyone so we just have to sit and wait.

The thing that gets me is how many '' Yankee '' Fan have been coming out :], again just because we got C.C Sabbathia & Burnett that does not guarantee crap, the Yankees need to get all the 5 man Rotation which is not completely set we still need a guaranteed 5TH Starter.
Secondly they NEED TO BE HEALTHY if they r not what the point that has been the make or break for the yankees.
Like last year hit with RISP, that bugged me last year they could not get runners inn if their life depended on it.
and if they DO make the Playoff. The pitching HAS TO DO ITS JOB & the hitting also.
LAST CONSISTENCY , l saw a lot consistency of being inconsitent
you cant win on Paper if that was the case they Yankees should have over40 ws but they do not they have26.
Simple= Pitching [ good]+ Hitting with RISP+ Healthy+ doing that in the playoff & consistency= WS Champs
if they cant do that then l cant see a ws for them

They have made some good moves in the off season to put them in good shape to contend. It is impossible to know who will eventually come out on top.

They need to add a game changing hitter like Texeria or Manny. At this point l have them 3rd in their own division. If they add Manny or Texeria They have a good chance at winning it.

l am a huge Yanks fan, but will give u a realistic answer: NO, not with the current team.
Of course with a revamped pitching rotation they look to be a favorite again, but with a pitcher who was taxed mightily late last year in Sabathia & a pitcher who has been on the DL nine times since 2000 in Burnett, it does not look good. The Yanks look to go after another starting pitcher, but if it is Sheets he is injury prone as well. So its another risk to take. So there goes ur new pitching rotation. If they bring back Pettitte, whose numbers were only slightly average last year, 14-14 4.54 ERA, it still wo not be enough. Joba still is not ready for a full-time starting position & should remain in the bullpen.
The Yanks have not addressed their offensive problems yet this offseason either. Losing Abreu & Giambi r two huge losses for the team & it does not look like they will bring back either one. Yes, they r getting back Posada & Matsui, but u have to remember that Posada is an aging catcher who is coming off season ending shoulder surgery last year & most likely wo not stay healthy, while Matsui is getting old & has been an injury risk the last two seasons. l do not believe they can be as productive as they once were.
The Yanks need to bring in another bat more specifically Mark Teixeira. He could bat in front of A-Rod & provide some protection, something that they will certainly lack this year now that Abreu & Giambi r gone.

If they stay healthy, then there is no reason they should not be. The yanks have the pitching this year to do it. And they will find someone with a bat soon. And if not im sure that someone will step up next year. Look for Cano to have a huge year. Sign Adam Dunn for DH, 30+ HR'S and 100+ RBI'S, that will help the void of Giambi and Abreu and then l think they can get it done.

With all the money they've thrown around, they will get back to the playoffs, but they will never be Champs as long as Alex Rodriguez is on their team!

They should contend for it if they can stay healthy.

With their selections player-wise this year, I'd have to say yes.
