Yes he should be Fired because the Braves can not compete with all of this non-sense.

It has less to do with the GM, & more the fact that ever since the Braves were sold, they've never had the financial backing they had before. Their owners r the ones screwing things up for the team, not the GM. You want to win players, open up that pocketbook. Everyone around the league knows that the Braves wo not shell out the cash for a true contender.so why get locked into a multi-year deal with a perennial also ran. The Dodgers & Yankees will likely be in the playoffs this year again, so can u blame them for jumping ship?

l think he should cause the Braves were horrible last year they were supposed to be a contender and since offseason the Braves have been in rumors for some pitchers like Peavy and Burnett but has pretty much lost all the deals he wanted to make

Sure, why not? After all he could have went out & paid stupid money & a massive amount of prospects (i.e., Teixiera deal.that went nicely , not too many excellent prospects given away & the Padres want even more). And once they r all paid he could even raise the ticket prices 25% to 50% to pay all these salaries..surely the fans wouldnt mind as long as they have name guys & contend.right? Burnett has been healthy exactly 2 seasons in his entire career..both were his contract year.imagine that! Furcal basically screwed them, he got them to sign their end of an agreement & then committed the most classless negotiation tactic in sport.used the Braves to get the deal he wanted from the Dodgers. He also punked the A is to get the Dodgers in the bidding with his media fueled checking out the Oakland communtiy & throwing out the contract numbers publicly. And his health isnt exactly much better than Burnetts. l think Braves fans should be thanking him for not making stupid deals..how many prospects should they give up along with at least one major league guy. Did u get a load of what the Padres rejected from the Cubs (5 guys including their top prospects & quality MLB ready guys). Yea.. l am all for getting rid of guys that make smart moves so they have the money available when moves make sense.

YESSSSS. He has already made several mistakes. He got rid of Tex & Kotsay. He was willing to take a chance on Peavy, Burnett, & Furcal, but he WON'T go ahead & SIGN SMOLTZ & GLAVINE, knowing they want to stay a Brave. What is the difference in taking a risk on Peavy, Burnett, & Furcal, BUT NOT ON SMOLTZ & GLAVINE?He needs to sign the true ace: SMOLTZ, before he goes somewhere else. l think he is giving Smoltzie the run-a-round & do not really want him. TAKE A CHANCE ON SMOLTZ & GLAVINE NOW like u were willing to do with Peavy, Burnett & Furcal. NOW!!!!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!

Is it him that can not make the trades, or is it some suit that he reports to that is calling all the shots?

Either way, it shows you just how good John Schuerholz was.

l do not think that Frank Wren should be fired after one season. John Schuerholz, the former GM & current team president, did not name Wren as his successor for nothing. When Wren was hired, he had little leverage because there still trying to rebuild the farm after the Mark Teixeira trade (the Braves gave up 6 prospects, including C Jarrod Saltamacchia, to get him, only to trade him for Casey Kotchman & a pitcher, which was Wren only major move prior to getting Javier Vazquez) & a high payroll they just could not keep up. l do not blame Wren for at least trying this offseason when they clear the Tex for payroll reason, because they made generous offers to several players..

- Jake Peavy

The Braves were willing to put SS Yunel Escobar as the centerpiece of the deal in order to get Peavy, but the Braves were balking at giving up there top prospects in OF Jason Heyward, who is is the third best prospect in the Minor League, & P Tommy Hanson. They were willing to move other prospects but in the end, they just did not have enough to satisfy the Padres & with the upcoming money (the Braves would have owed part of the $63 million left in the Peavy deal), it was just too risky for the Brave to pull off, considering in what happen after they got Mark Teixeira last season.

- A.J. Burnett

They made a hard offer at Burnett & l believe they did (5 years, $80 million). It was the most logical choice, as he would solidify his role as the ''ace'' of the staff. Problem is that Burnett did not want the pressure of carrying a rotation (his former teammates include Josh Beckett & Roy Halladay) & going to the Yankees, he would be the second fiddle (now he is with Sabathia), a role he is comfortable with. l guess the Braves went for the wrong guy.

- Rafael Furcal

This was basically a miscommunication. In this business, no deal is made until the ''John Hancock'' (signature) is signed. For Furcal, he never sign the contract, nor took a physical, despite the fact that the Braves stated that they had a ''gentlemen agreement''. The Braves made a simple mistake that they assume that they got Furcal, despite not meeting him one-on-one (Furcal was in the Dominican Republic at the time of the ''propose'' deal). They never gave him a clear role of where he is going to play (they still had Yunel Escobar & signing Furcal would mean he had to move to 2B, which is not an easy transition). This is why most team never announce a deal until it is actually sign. Despite the fact that the Braves fax a contract to his agent, Paul Kinzer, neither Kinzer or Furcal have agree to sign the contract. At least the Oakland A is had the heads up.

l feel for Atlanta, as they been through this with Furcal three years ago. If u do not remember, Furcal was the prized Free Agent SS in the market at that time & the Cubs had the best shot at Furcal until Furcal surprise everyone by signing with the Dodgers days later. Schuerholz, who was the GM at the time, believe his agent at the time, Arn Tellem, did not give the Braves a chance to make a counteroffer. Three years later, the Braves almost got Furcal back as the surprise team, but it was Arn Tellem (now the consultant for Kinzer) again who strikes. This time, Tellem & Kinzer gave the Dodgers a chance at a counteroffer, something the Braves never got three years ago. In the end, u can blame the agents for this fiasco or Furcal for not making up his mind sooner.

Remember, the offseason is never over until Spring Training starts & they still have decent pitchers in the market (Derek Lowe, Oliver Perez, among others), so it is not like the Braves r going to sulk at this. It is just a case of bad luck for the Braves, one that should not be blame on Wren. At least he is trying.
