I am not trying to pick on the Mets but they need to go after another starter.

Do not look for Rodriguez to even come close to last year is numbers.

l guess your right but its difficult to comprehend spending that much money on two closer caliber relievers. l think Putz could be a great set up man though.

Have you seen any of the games this year, or any year for that matter? They needed a closer as well as someone to get the ball to the closer. Besides, l am sure they will be going after starting pitching, the offseason is not over.

The big deal is they blew save after save last season and the bullpen was seen as their weak link. l do agree, however, they are weak in the overall starting rotation.

You're right that they wo not be a championship caliber without a rotation upgrade, but they will probably add a starter. Niese is an injury risk and his potential lies as a mid-rotation starter. Not to mention Maine is an injury risk as well. A starter should be within the budget.

Considering their bullpen was one of the worst in the NL, they needed help.

l see another failure coming from NY.

Dude it is the off-season let them have their hype now. Do not ever say that someone is not going to make something happen in an MLB season because thing is, this is baseball & the ball is round which means anything can happen.

You see, let is compare this to Mathematics. In Math everything can be predicted. You can find out how much this will be, how much was spent on this, yada yada etcetera. Math pretty much applies to everything in life except one thing, Baseball. This means that u can never predict what is going to happen, who is going to do this & how it is going to be done. Baseball keeps u on ur toes.

The Mets' starting rotation is predicted to be Santana, Maine, Pelfrey, Neice & Stokes/Knight/Parnell. 4 of these guys have hardly been introduced to the public outside Mets fans & we have no idea what they can do. Will they be a One-Hit-Wonder like Boston is Clay Buchholz? Will they be an Edinson Volquez where it takes time to develop them? Or will they be a Johan Santana in disguise?

Omar officially said that starting pitching is their biggest priority. They are currently in negotiations for Perez and are getting in on the Lowe sweepstakes. They are also contacting agents for Randy Wolf and Jon Garland as fifth starters, or at least to compete with Niese for the job.

They are addressing the starting pitching now, and will have offers out before Christmas to a number of free agents. Probably after New Year's, the staff will be changed.

.and how do you know that Jonathan Neise will be a flop? He could turn out to be the Mets' first rookie pitching stud since Doc Gooden.
