Why are the White Sox called, the White Sox

original name of the team chicago white stocking, Cincinnati was the red stockings. .this dates back early 1900s. older photo is will show how high they were on players legs. both teams changed names soon. one became redlegs. later the reds. other one became the white sox 1904 if memory not off to much. thank you

The Cubs were originally the White Stockings before the start of the Major League Baseball, in 1901. They changed their name to the Cubs. Charles Comiskey loved that name so snagged it and named his team the White Stockings, later to be called the White Sox.
