l would pick Berkman cuz he has more power and a better eye for the ball!

l would pick Teixiera because he is a young player who is one of the best first baseman in baseball. l like the way he plays the game. Berkman is a great player but its hard to choose him over Teixiera

l would disagree with you on two grounds. One, Mark Teixeira is younger and looks to be reaching his prime. Two, Berkman is power has been in the decline although his average is terrific.

Well, these two r definitely the best two switch hitters in baseball. l think the popular choice would be Mark Teixeira. That is because he is the big baseball news right now, being that he was such big news during the season, playing great & being traded twice, & because he is a highly pursued free agent in the news today.
They r really extremely similar hitters, & l could not say which was the better hitter. They both r very patient, can hit for average, can hit for power, both high on base percentages, what may make Berkman a tad bit more valuable is He can still 20 bases, Tex probably will never steal 5 bases in a season.They r both top notch defenders, l know Tex has won a couple of gold gloves, but Berkman is just as good defensively, maybe better. If l had to pick, it would be Berkman, but if stalemate is an option, that would be the answer.

Right now, l would say Teixeira, but if he signs a big contract is the incentive to produce higher numbers still there?

Berkman. He has better plate discipline, a higher career OBP and SLG than Teixeira, and he can play outfield. Teixeira has not played OF since college.
