most people dont think this isnt fair, but in america anyone is allowed to monopolize the baseball world, if the yanks have the money they can spend it on whatever or whoever they want, if they wanna go blow all there money let it happen, all of us other fans are just going to have a party when they all end up on the DL

It is their money and there is no rule against it in baseball. It does not automatically mean they will win. Look at how they did last year with that huge payroll.

Seeing it as there is no salary cap in baseball, l suppose that makes it perfectly fine. Am l a fan of them going out and trying to buy championships every year ? No. But look at it this way, they always try and never succeed. l am a huge Mets fan so l could careless about the Yankees.

No, because they take the whole point away from free agency. When you become a free agent and your decent then you might as well just go to the Yankees. It happened with Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, and AJ Burnett. l bet it happened to the whole entire starting line-up.

l am not sure how you'd define fairness in a capitalist system. The Yankees bring in the highest revenues, & therefore spend the most money. It may not be fair, but what is the alternative? To have the owners institute a salary cap that keeps salaries artificially low & allows said owners to pocket more revenues? l think that would be even less ''fair,'' especially since the players would be the ones hurt in that system.
l am not a Yanks fan, but I'd love to see my team spend like they do. It is all about winning, & that is what the Yankees try to do year after year.

They can do what ever they want with their money it is no one is business.Their ower belives in putting money into a good solid club. Not in his pockets like some of these other owners.

It is not unfair. There is no salary cap in baseball but there is a luxury tax for teams whose payroll exceeds a certain amount. If the Yankees are willing to pay that then they have every right to spend lots of money. And the most expensive players are not always the best. Take a look at the New York Knicks.

It is not fair, but it is not the most significant reason for why small market teams play poorly. Money pretty much guarantees that the Yankes will never have a bad season. It does not give them anything beyond that. Besides, they get the money by putting out a product that a lot of people pay a lot of money to get.

Yes, that is completely fair. That is how the other 29 teams operate, & there is no reason why the Yankees should have additional, artificial restrictions placed upon them exclusively.
What is NOT fair is the market advantage the Yankees (and Mets) get to enjoy. The NYC metro area is a local market like no other, & they r the only two teams who can exploit that reality. MLB policy does not allow other teams to relocate there, & the anti-trust exemption gives that policy real teeth.
So -- & this is important -- MLB has granted exclusive, essentially monopoly rights to the NYC area to the Yankees & Mets.
It therefore would be completely fair for that largess to be shared across all of MLB is constituent teams. Yes -- revenue sharing. ALL teams pour money into a pot, each according to its financial reality, & each then gets out an equal share. Working out how exactly to do this (and MLB does have revenue sharing, so it DOES exist, but it certainly can be tweaked) is a job for the accountants; certainly the basic cost of living in & around NYC is a real factor, one which has to be considered & allowed for. But, short summary, revenue sharing could be increased & give every team a more equivalent share of the money.
The trick then is to get those teams to spend it. Realize that, in recent seasons, the Marlins' payout shares have been GREATER than its entire player payroll. The owner uses the team as an ATM, & still wants a new (taxpayer-funded) ballpark.
It is not a simple issue. but there r far greater, more heinous acts occurring than the Yankees' profligate spending on players. That is just what the headlines go after.

There should be a salary cap but the players' union will never let that happen. With that in mind, if the Yankees have the money why should not they spend it. They are the most marketable team in history. You should blame the players for not signing with a team for any other reason than money.

Take a look at what has happened to the Yankees . they pay players big bucks to play for them and where has it got them ? Nowhere . Let them waste their money on a couple of players . 2 guys do not make the whole team . Also takes more than power hitters . Just look at Bonds . he hit what ? 74 home runs for the Giants . where did it get the team ? Nowhere . It takes a ballanced team .

l think its not fair.it takes alot away from baseball & takes EVERYTHING away from free agency!!! People argue that other owners have the money & they stuff it in their pockets haha. Ummm do some reaserch on how much GS pocketed over all those years with the Yankees.are u serious?? The dude pockets enough to buy the league if he wanted to. All Yankee fans think its fair & thats usually how u smell them out with a question like this. Im not sure wat rules should be put into place but l think something needs to change about the ability to sign whoever wenever for however much u want. At the same time l enjoy watching them spend & lose.love it!!! Hey they r playing within the rules so its nothing really that u can hate about it.many of us would do the same thing if we were in that position. l just think the MLB needs to step in & control this bc players salaries r getting CRAZY to say the least. l can only imagine the 2020 free agent market.

Absolutely yes. The answer is very simple. The Yankees can spend the most BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE HIGHEST REVENUE!! Why do u morons piss & moan about ur team is complacent ownership that does not spend with their full resources? The complaint is like arguing that Bill Gates should be eating Spam or at Sizzler since the economy is bad, & for a lot of people, money is tight. The fact is, Bill Gates, just like the Yankees, has been very successful in business & making money. They have the money to cover their spending. They even pay a luxury tax to the other teams. That is free money. l fully agree that the Yankees spend well above & beyond every other team in mlb, but did u ever stop to think how it got that way? They have historically gone out, paid the big bucks, & gotten the big name players. That puts people is butts in the seats at the stadium, makes them buy the hats & shirts, & makes the tv stations shell out the money to broadcast them. That gives them the money to do it the following year, & the year after that, & so on. What most of u whiny haters fail to acknowledge is that most other teams have more money to spend than they actually dish out. Baseball is a sport, but it is also a business. The owners of teams want to make money. Most r not willing to risk making little to no profit for a period of time to sign a big name player like Arod, CC, etc. Bringing in the big name players, with all of the hype & speculation that surrounds it, brings viewership. Most mlb teams do not sell out on a consistent basis, but 99% do when the Yankees come to town. l will admit that a lot of people come out just to hate, but the fact remains that they r spending money to do so. Simply put, the Yankees make the big moves that make them the big money. Having by far the most money entitles them to spend the most.
And to all of u that say they can not buy a championship, tell me how many championships the Yankees have, & how many ur team has. l already know a fact, & that is that the Yankees have more. To all of u who will jump right out & say that they have not won in 8 years, u need to relaize that u r talking about a very small amount of time. Look at the past 10 years. Who has the most rings? Sure Boston has 2 (after 86 years), but so do the Yankees from '99 & '00. Maybe if 9/11 did not happen, they would have won in '01. l am not saying the Yankees r perfect, but they r the best team in all of professional sports.

Yes it is fair. If you have the $$$, why not try to get best players available. If you owned a business, would you want mediocre people running it or the best people you could hire?
