yea there has always been a few small incidences every now and then but the Red Sox won 2 world series with him and were a great team with him.l dont see how he affected the team... they were really good.

well, maybe you should look at the fact that nobody wants him right now. that should tell you what a crummy teamate he is. he quit on the redsox and his teamates and he will quit on any team that does not make him happy. he is a cancer.

Just going by last year is performance. He did not want his options picked up (but if he had some real bad seasons he would have wanted them picked up) and he (figuratively) held his breath and jumped up and down until they played by his 'new' rules.

Thinking he is a bad person or of flawed character makes it easier to dislike him. It is pretty much ''Bonds Syndrome''. Hits like crazy, top of the league, but he wo not be a hero so, screw him, let is paint him a villain.

l try never to give a damn about these things, only about what happens between the foul lines, because this sort of external noise reveals very little & is mostly bullshit anyway.

Now, the crap he pulled in July to get dealt & out of his contract -- that DID happen on the field & was at the minimum obnoxious. That DOES matter, tanking one is playing (even if, by the stats, it would be hard to substantiate, though the comparison to his Dodgers tenure is striking). That does not make him a bad person, but it does make him an unreliable one, & that may be factoring into various GMs decisions-making. Ramirez will never be offered an option year again, l do not think.

Do u follow the sox, of just hear about him on Sportscenter? the reason l ask is that for us Bostonians, who follow the sox religiously, we have seen day in an day out how Manny is. Sure, he'd go out & hit a home run & we'd all cheer for him then the very next inning, he will be fighting Youkilis in the dugout & then not cheering on his teammates.

He is super arrogant & cocky. & that is ok cause he is that good! BUT when he started to get a bad attitude & not support his teammates (namely jason varitek & youk.. & incidents of not cheering on ellsbury & pedroia- which is important when they r rookies!) The team got tired of his bad attitude. He ai not THAT good to play all the positions himself.

Boston loved Manny for a while, we realized he was a unique player & we chalked it up to ''Manny just being Manny''.
But, just like a cute but bratty little kid, eventually the ''manny being manny'' wore off, & the patience of the Sox team & fans grew thin.
Sentiments around town & around fenway r ''We r doing fine without him & good riddance!''

He is quiet for now, obviously he is not gonna have his bad attitude with him until he settles in, & finds his place in the club house in LA. but once he does, u will start to see Manny is shenanigans again, when the Dodgers start to suck & no playoff hopes r there. Manny will start to complain, slack & just start to become a ''cancer'' on them.

Agreed he is no TO, & he is not Sean Avery (NHL), but he is bad for a baseball player.

There are certainly worse people out there, and club house cancer for most of Manny is career is probably unfair. He is more of a flaky goof ball than clubhouse cancer most of the time. Some feel he whined his way out of Boston, however. He wants things his own way or he acts like a child. Even some of his closest baseball friends have called him a man-child.

have u never heard of him or his B.S. antics? sure he is a great player & will go down as one of the greatest right handed hitters of all time, but he was either never taught how to act, or along the way has had so many people kiss his $$ & decided that he was too talented & important to do things like: be a team player, run out balls, be courteous to fans, etc.

It is a shame that so many of the ''greats'' have to act like such jerks to everyone instead of being gracious & thankful for being so lucky to be given such skills

Anyone who follows the Red Sox knows. He is asked for a trade almost every year. He does not hustle and he does not play through injuries (although he is better than JD Drew in that regard).

Say what you want about Francona but he does handle the clubhouse issues well and keeps things private and that is 90% of his job.
