Like the NFL, six teams in each league go to the playoffs, the two teams with the best record on each team will have a bye while the other teams face each other on each league is wild card series.

No.
The only change l would make is give the wild card team fewer home games (maybe one home game per series). Too many wild cards have been emerging. In the NFL the wild card team always plays on the road.

No. The extra round would make an already long and arduous season even longer and more taxing on the athletes It is fine the way it is, no reason to fix what is not broken

Football has single games that decide who advance. Baseball plays entire series. Baseball does not want to give 2 teams off (that are the better of the group) an entire series off.
It would also extend the playoffs by at least a week.
As we've seen with teams with bye weeks, it does not always help.

The NFL has too many playoff teams & the format is pretty dismal, but that is what ya get with 32 teams. Witness the defensively challenged 8-8 Chargers & Cardinals in there but the 11-5 Patriots going home. The best format was during the 80s when they had three division winners who all got byes, & two wild card winners per conference.
As for MLB, l wish that they could stick with the current four spots, have two wildcards, contract two teams, & reduce division size to two 7 team divisions per league.
But that is a dream. It is still all based on money/revenue so do not blink & eye someday in the future where ALL the teams make the playoffs!

l say add 1 more wild card team so there is 5 playoff teams in each league. Then have the two wild card teams play a one game playoff for the #4 seed. That way the #1 seed will have an advantage against the wild card winner because chances r the wild card team would have had to use their best pitcher. Right now it is too easy for the wild card winner to advance through the playoffs.
Either that or have the #1 seed get 4 home games while the wild card team only gets 1 home game.

No because then baseball would last until November. Keep it the way it is.

One word: No. You do not give teams chances. If they lost they lost.

Jesus is not 162 game season long enough? And the bye would not be a bad idea though.

Maybe if the baseball regular season is shortened by say, 20 games. l can see that working fine.

l do think more teams deserve to be in the playoffs. Let is be honest, the playoffs is the culmination of an entire season, & I'd rather see more of it than less. Not to mention that many deserving teams get left out of the playoffs that really deserve to go.
However, baseball season is already incredibly long, so what I'd like to see is for them to reduce the season back down to 154 games, then move to a more NFL format for the playoff picture. More teams & fewer games. No reason that all the playoffs could not be best out of 3, finally reverting to a best of 7 for the LCS & the World Series of course. There would be more bugs to work, but l think the idea is solid.
Sadly, this will never come to pass. Why not? Revenue streams of course. 162 game seasons means more tickets sold, etc, etc. Though for that same reason, they will likely increase the number of playoff teams eventually.

I'd go with 5 instead of 6. It is unfair that Wild Card teams have such an easy road and it would be unfair to require a division winner to play more rounds than another division winner.
Why not require the 2 teams with the best records that did not win their division to play a 3 game series to determine the Wild Card team? That would probably reduce the number of Wild Card teams that go to the World Series, which would be a good thing.

No there are too many already. l say only the 3 division champs with no wild card. Best record gets a bye the other 2 teams play a 5 game series then the championship series is 7 games. But having a WC team at least keeps teams active even though l do not like WC teams having a chance very equal to the Leagues elite teams. Only takes a few good plays for teams to equal out when the Pitching rotation is down to 2-3 starters and limited play of some relievers.

After thinking about this for a while, I've decided that having more teams in the playoffs is not good. It gets cold in November, especially in the north states, and baseball is not meant to be played in snow. The only possible way to extend the playoffs is by moving the world series to a neutral sight like the super bowl which would not be great because it is a series and not one game like the super bowl. Would not work out for MLB, no way.

No, the season is too long already. The WS should not be played in 35 degree weather.
