Braves made a pitch to AJ Burnet for 5 years deal and Yankees and other teams are waiting to see things more clearly.

More confirmed information about the trade of Javier Vezquez, Tyler Flowers Brent Lillibridge, Jon Gilmore and Santos Rodriguez. Tyler is pretty close to be ready, Brent needs more development. Jon and Santos are still very young.

l don’t like Tyler Flower to be included but still it is not bad of a decision made by Wren. Better than Tex trade, which were close to no point.

In fact, this trade shows that he still hope to land on Peavy because it does not including any of the trade piece for Peavy in the original deal. Frank did not talk about the trade for three weeks but l can see that he is waiting for Towers rather than pushing it too hard.

If AJ is willing to come back to NL and take the 5 years deal, Braves will be strong enough to lure Peavy even it means that Martin Prado to play SS for the whole season.

The only problem left is the money. AJ will probably cost 14~16 mils per year. Javy costs 11.5 mils and Peavys costs about 13 mils. That is about all the money Braves can spare. That means next year, Braves will have hard time to sign any player, including Tim Hudson.

The Braves gave up alot of young potential for a guy that is just a #4 or 5 starter at best. They must be in search of last place

l must say that l am not particularly happy at the trade. l have always rated Vazquez & never felt he lived up to his potential but for the braves to trade 4 young prospects for a pitcher who only has a few seasons left in him is a bad move. l would rather the team suck for a few years (after all we sucked for a long time throughout most of the 70 is & all of the 80's) while it brings in young talent then to trade that talent away for unproven veterans. Not being able to sign Hudson does not worry me, he is a good pitcher but is now on the declining part of his career & l am worrying about his injury risk. Peavy is not worth what talent the Padres want for him, but if they can pick up AJ off the free agent market that would be great. Even better would be an amazing turn of events that lands Tex back at first cause Kotchman bites.

Personally l think Atlanta needs to wait for their talent pool to come through like they did in the 90's.

i think they need a hitter or couple of young starters to make them win 90 games instead of 70

l think Vasquez is mediocre at best. Wren must have something up his sleeve because this does little to improve his team.

l think they are trying to make a run in 2009.
