Shane Victorino did this all through the playoffs, also Greg Maddux is notorious for picking his nose on camera & countless others, but why do they like to do gross things like that?

Haha, funny question. But MLB players need to be able to breathe cleanly at all times. Its just the quickest and cleanest method to clean their systems. Gross maybe, but they dont get paid to look pretty.

they have to be able to focus on the game so little distractions like that they get rid of..its not gross its a way of life
