Seasons. They named Pedro Martinez #1 ahead of Walter Johnson. l like Martinez but I am sorry in my opinion he should not be ahead of a man(Johnson) Who won 36 games in his best year. Do you agree of disagree with this?

l agree.there are many pitchers better than pedro.mathews.drysdale.whitey ford.peewee reese.and many more..plus those pitchers did their careers with the same team..pedro bounced around so he could get world series rings for himself.he was also very selfish..could not stand the guy

Pedro Martinez should not be ahead of guys like Walter Johnson. l did not watch it last night, but just reading this - how could they do that? There is a few legends that should have had a better season than Pedro.

In 1913 Home Run Baker led the AL w/12 Home runs. Small ball was big. Pitchers could challenge more w/the fastabll without the fear of the HR

Walter Johnson WAS the greatest right handed pitcher of all time.
Some people tend to forget or perhaps never knew that the BIG TRAIN pitched many good games & with great seasonal ERA is & had twenty game winning seasons during the explosive 1920 is when Ruth led baseball kicking & screaming into our modern era of high scoring & home runs, lurking with every pitch. Also this man, Johnson still holds the record for shutouts at 110. That is right, 110 major league shutouts. They were not all pitched in Washington Stadium either.
Where did these so-called experts rate Lefty Grove.
Lefty is easily the best Left hander of all time & he pitched 1/2 of his games in hitters parks. 300 wins+only 141 losses+he led the AL in strikeouts seven consecutive seasons, which is still a record,+in winning pct. 9 times+in ERA five times while pitching 298 complete games+winning 33 games in relief & saving 55 others. In his spare time he probably sold beer in the stands.
Edit: 15 minutes later. Lefty Grove also won 31 games & had only 4 losses in one season, followed by 28 wins & only 5 losses the next season, giving him a two season total of 59 wins & only 9 losses. A winning percentage of .868. No other lively ball era pitcher has ever been able to top that.
Plus, he is the only 300 game winner in the hall of Fame with a lifetime winning percentage of .680

l will give Pedro this, however, as being the best 7 inning pitcher of all time

l am surprised that a network that is trying to gain credibility and validation as MLB would even make that kind of comparison. For a pitcher who has not even thrown 50 complete games in his entire career, l can even see him on the list. There are many better pitchers in baseball history. As a fan who knows a little something about the game, l am shocked.
