how do you think the phillies are going to do this season

l can not see them beating out the Mets in the regular season with the Mets revamped pen. They could take the wild card though and honestly, l think the Phillies are prepared better for the actual playoffs than the Mets are due to starting pitching.

The Phillies are a great strong, solid team they have great pitching and they have alot of chemistry they could repeat with another WS. l think they will be in the OCT Mix.

l am a Phillies fan so l am a bit bias.
But, l will say that winning the world series twice in a row is a difficult task.
l think the Phillies have a great team though. The starting pitching is a bit. shaky l mean they do of course have their ace Cole Hamels, but who knows how good ol' Jamie Moyer is going to do. l mean he is 46 for god is sakes. l love him to death, but can he really keep up another year? l sure hope so.

l think they will make it to the playoffs, but l am not sure about winning the championship title again. l really hope they do, & l think they have the potential to do it again if they really play their game because they have a great group of guys. (Including my future husband Shane Victorino, hehe).

The off-season still is not over, so it is hard to tell. If the Mets add Derek Lowe (and probably will), than it is realistic to believe they will be the front-runners again which would only continue the irony considering they've just won the world series. Overall though, were the Phillies really that much better then the Mets? The Phillies had an amazing bullpen in 2008. To go 88-0 after the 9th inning is unbelievable. Does not it say the Phillies r vulnerable if they only won the division by 3 games over a team that blew 29 saves (11 were in the 9th inning)? That is the team that went 11-7 against them in 2008?

The NL is very balanced when it comes to competition. Nonetheless have there been 8 teams in the World Series in the last 4 seasons, but each of the last 3 NL teams that have made the World Series have not made the postseason the following season. Not all teams who win championships retain that hunger. 5 of the last 7 NL World Series have not made the postseason in the following season. Not one NL team who is won at least one division since 1983 has won more than one world series. Ironically, the Phillies loss the World Series that year. The problem with the Phillies is they've had poor management over the years. After they loss the '93 World Series, they finished under .500 seven years straight. The year before starting an 8 year stretch of averaging 86.5 wins per year (2001-2008), they traded one of the best pitcher is in baseball (Curt Shilling) & did not get enough back for him. They traded him because they were too cheap to give him the money he wanted. So he went on to win two world series with the D'Backs & Red Sox. Perhaps if the Phillies held onto him, they would have won more than one.

Pat Gillick was a good GM. Just from the moves Ruben Amaro Jr. is made this off-season, u can see his inexperience. Why would not he offered Burrell arbitration? He would have rejected it & the Phillies would have gotten a 1st & 2nd round draft selection back for him for who ever signed him. Had he accepted, they would not have needed to signed Ibanez. Or he would have had decent trade value. Even though he winded up signing Moyer, why did not he offered him arbitration either since he was Type A? Why the hell would the Phillies wait about 4 weeks to get Chase Utley hip surgery knowing he'd be out at least 4-6 months knowing he'd be out until May or June? Why would he sign a left-handed hitting LF (in a line-up with so many lefty's) who is 4 1/2 years older than Burrell & equally poor defensively? Why did they give up on signing Lowe knowing he'd probably end up a Met?

The only way the Mets bullpen can work is up. The only way the Phillies can is down. The Phillies may just get too cheap on Ryan Howard the same way they did on Schilling. Why r Rollins & Hamels running their mouths? Are the Mets even responding vocally? You're the freaking world champs & Hamels is calling the Mets ''choke artists?'' (even if he was egged on). Why piss on the fire? Well, getting K-Rod, Putz, Lowe & maybe even Manny down the road may be a signal. So my prediction is the Phillies have a good season next year, but do not make the postseason. They will end up 86-96. The Mets will come out a lot more powerful. l think it is realistic to see both of these teams end up in the playoffs with Milwaukee losing Sabathia, Torres & possibly Sheets.The Phillies will fight hard, but they're relying on the wrong guys. You do not fix what is not broken. Why replace Burrell with Ibanez? Now when Santana (and possibly Perez) pitch against them, the middle of their line-up is exposed to high vulnerability. Especially if the Mets sign Ohman or Beimel too. We all know Brett Myers is unreliable as a 2 SP. Moyer is a good pitcher, but he was rocked hard in the postseason. Signing him to 2 years was risky, but the incentives should keep him motivated. l really do not see how the Park signing made much sense either.The truth is though much more good has happened for the Mets this off-season than the Phillies. But l still see the Phillies fighting hard next season. When J-Roll is slumping & u guy is r losing though, l am sure u will remember his ''front runner'' remarks. Especially considering how dead his bat was in the playoffs.

We are the team to beat! Ca not wait to listen to the Mets players crying and giving excuses as to why they did not win the division again! Ha!

Uhh l think they will win the Wild Card with a record of 92-70.

Look, Tom M, you're starting to get on my nerves, & u do not know as much about the NL east as u think u do. l do not care if you're a Mets fan or whatever, but just stay out of this if u can not say anything good. l am sick of everyone trashing us. We won the freaking World Series. Is not that enough to tell u that the Phillies wo not be a pushover this year?! l am sitting here, trying to respect the Mets & their fans because l know they will have a good team this year, but u just let loose & do not care what u say or who u say it to.


But, to answer the question, l think it is going to be a really tight race in the NL east again this year. The Mets added some good players & have become a pretty good team, & the Phillies r a pretty good team. l think the Braves & the Marlins will be better too this year, so l really do not know what is going to happen until the season starts.

l think they will do well, vigorously fighting against the Mets for the top spot as usual :)

I'd like to think that they could do it again! l mean l would love to go down and see another parade but i'm not sure if they can do it all over again! i'm gonna keep up my phaith like a true phillies phan!
l would also like to think that losing pat burrell is going to hurt them but l really do not think it will.
