l saw on a marucci bat website that a DW5 model has a balance of 4 and l do not know what that means if anything important for the bat.

It means that the height is 4 units more than the weight. For example, a -4 bat could be 32 in. 28 oz.

It means there is a -4 oz drop on the bat. Witch means if the bat is 34in then the weight is 30oz. It does matter.

It is the differance between the length and weight. A a bat that is -4 (or 'drop' 4) may hav a length of 32 inches and a weight of 28 ounces or a length of 33 inches and a weight of 29 ounces or a length of 31 inches and a weight of 27 ounces and so on. A bat that is drop 4 is to light for high school play. l hope this helps you!

The heaviest balance ratio (smallest number) permitted in high school regulations is -3. Generally the larger the number in the ratio is, the ''lighter'' the bat feels and the more appropriate it is for some who is smaller or younger. For instance a little league player might use a bat that has a -4 balance ratio. A heavier highschool player might use one that is -3 and you might find a pro swinging a -2.
